Meghan Markle will not join Prince Harry on a visit to the UK coinciding with the anniversary of his grandmother’s death, according to reports.

The Duke of Sussex will be in London to attend an event for WellChild, a charity for seriously ill children of which he’s a patron, on September 7.

The following day will mark one year since Elizabeth II died in Balmoral Castle at the age of 96.

Harry is expected to travel to Dusseldorf, Germany, for the start of his Invictus Games on September 9.

Ms Markle is widely expected to fly straight from California to Germany, and may not join him until at least September 10.

According to Omid Scobie, a biographer of the LA-born actress said to be a close friend of hers, she will miss the start of the Games.

Scobie tweeted on Thursday: ‘A spokesperson confirms that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “delighted to be attending” the Invictus Games 2023 in Düsseldorf next month.

‘Harry will be there from the start and Meghan will join him later on in the competition. They’ll both be at the closing ceremony.’

Buckingham Palace has not announced any official gatherings of royals to mark the anniversary of the Queen’s death.

There has been no suggestion of a private family gathering, either, with reports suggesting Charles and Camilla will mark the date quietly at Balmoral.

Harry is not expected to meet with members of his immediate family, with insiders saying relations with his brother and father remain ‘firmly rooted at rock bottom’.

According to MailOnline, however, there is a possibility he will see his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, whom he’s remained close with.

Neither Archewell, Harry and Meghan’s foundation, nor the Palace have commented on the matter.

Having been evicted from Frogmore Cottage earlier this summer, Harry will be forced to request permission to stay at a royal estate, such as Windsor, unless he has decided to stay in a hotel or with friends.

He was last in the UK in June to attend court in his phone hacking case against Mirror Group Newspapers.
